This is a placeholder until I come back with a prettier pinned post! I'm em! Older than 21, they/them.

I use this journal for monthly wrap ups of the media I read and watch, as well as ocassionaly miscellaneous posts. Some of my larger interests are kpop, textiles, and music generally.

You're more than welcome to follow/comment/etc on anything I post here. Currently only granting access to people I know. Always happy to chat!

I've been writing end of year posts (almost done! just need to write up favorite albums of 2023), and so this has been by the wayside, but here we are!

I've already been extremely sappy in other places, so I'll let this stand on its own.

If you're interested, I'm starting a book club over on this comm!

happy new year )

Hello!

I've made a little book club comm for anyone interested in joining over here. I wanted to make a low pressure space for people in different timezones to read and discuss a book at a slower pace, and dreamwidth really works for that.

This invite is open and will stay open for anyone who wants to join (even if they're not necessarily following me, like friends of friends). We're in the process of narrowing down what type of timeline and format would work for us here and getting to know each other here.

If you're interested in a book club, come check it out!

Hello hello I hope the week is treating you kindly.

In the vein of some other skincare posts I've seen on here, I'm going to be jotting down my thoughts on some recent (+past) skincare purchases. This is more haphazard than some of the very nice ones I've read by friends--I am a newbie to skincare and cannot give you much more than "this kind of did what it said it would" and "this smelled nice" as product reviews. I don't know what a ceramide is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask, etc etc.

The reason I got these products in the first place was that after starting T I've needed to adjust my skincare routine. (I started breaking out more, it was annoying.) So therefore, my biggest concern with any of this was "does it prevent/treat acne somehow".

I think I have combination skin or something that leans drier than oilier generally. Prices pulled from the Sephora website in USD when possible.

Anyway! On to the reviews.

My goal for 2024 is to read 100 books! I've decided not to plan out all of them, but I have some I want to hit below. I thought 9 was a nice number of books I absolutely want to get through next year. 100 is a... lot! Hence the book hubris.

Unrelated to this list, is anyone interested in forming a bookclub? Maybe making a dw community about it or something? Or even just a dw community to talk about books occasionally would be fun!

I've been off twitter more recently, and that's been good for my ability to annoy my congresspeople and read books, if nothing else. Expect quite a few more books than normal below!

Last month was my birthday month, and I'd love if you tossed me a song for my birthday playlist! It's a playlist I make every year with songs other people send me. Birthday theming is optional, it can just be something you liked recently, or something you'd like me to listen to or bring into the new year.

This is also love meme season (an anonymous yearly thread where you can leave some sweet thoughts for other people anonymously). My post on the thread is here if you'd care to leave me something, and I'd love if you linked me yours if you made one!

I picked up so many shifts this month I'm surprised I had time to read all of this, but I suppose the time really stacks up when you're not on twitter for two hours every day.

That's it from me this month, I think!

This month I watched so many things! This has taken a little longer to write up, consequently lol. I've also been on vacation and mostly focused on reading more things instead of writing about the things I've already read.

I've started a handful of posts, a handful of stories. I'm now ten months late mail last year's holiday cards. And still the world keeps moving on! We'll see what next month brings.

happy start of fall! )

Continuing with my monthly catch up! Here was last month! Pretend we're not almost at the end of this current month…
here's to the summer's end )

This is a scene that was originally in unquiet, my superhero story that is 80% longing by volume. While this scene was the original image that made me write the sequel, ultimately when I got to where is was supposed to go in the story, I didn't feel like it fit. However, I still wanted to put it somewhere!

I've been off twitter a lot recently, and cannot say that there has been a significant change in how much media I'm consuming, unless you count how many hours of d20 I've watched in the recent weeks. I hope this new month has been treating you kindly <3

Okay so ORV is something I think about ALL the time now, and here is the playlist I made about Kim Dokja (but also the whole story) that I rotate when I am particularly in the sauce.

ORV, to me, is fundamentally about story, and love, and forgiveness, and what you get from a narrative, and why people write. Loved it so much. Also, there are so many spoilers in this playlist, so proceed through this cut at your own risk.

This new year has been surprisingly okay! I think I've been conditioned to hate January because winter quarter always starts now, but now that I'm not in school it's been surprisingly fine.
happy new year! )
